What is Crypto Profit/Loss Calculator?
It is a tool that estimates potential profits or losses in a particular trade, depending on investment size, buy price, sell price, and transaction fees. The profit/loss depends on the price change that occurs between the trade entry (buy price) and exit (sell price). By estimating returns for given price changes and fees, you can plan trades in advance – setting entry (buy price) and exit points (sell price). This makes it especially useful in grid trading.
By running profit/loss calculations, you can find out how much profit a particular grid may yield after paying transaction fees (%). For example, if you run 6 grids between $114,000 (buy price) and $120,000 (sell price) for BTC, investing $100 in each, you can estimate the profit for each completed cycle. Or, if you run 3 grids between $112,000 and $122,000, investing $200 in each, you can estimate profit for each trade.
Furthermore, you can also estimate losses during downward price trends and be aware of the risks. You can test trades with small price movements and determine whether transaction fees reduce or eliminate your profits. For example, if you invest $100 at a BTC buy price of $114,000 and sell at $115,600 with 1% transaction fees, your final value would be $100.39, giving a profit of $0.39. But with 0.1% transaction fees, your final value would be $101.34, giving a profit of $1.34.
How Crypto Profit/Loss Calculator Works?
The net profit or loss in a particular trade primarily depends on investment size and the price change (from buy price to sell price). This calculator estimates the percentage price change and determines the final value of your capital based on that change, while subtracting the specified transaction fees. You input these parameters:
- Cryptocurrency: the crypto you are investing in
- Buy price: the market price when you buy the crypto
- Sell price: the market price when you sell the crypto
- Investment size: how much you invest in the crypto
- Transaction fees: how much the exchange charges for your trade
The calculator then estimates your net returns based on the price change, investment size, and the transaction fees paid.
